Festive Mocktails

Celebrate In Style And In Health With A Mocktail This Holiday Season!

“Brunch not lunch, healthy mocktails – and no sprouts” Christmas Trends 2021 – Marie Claire Dorking, (Yahoo News, 2021)

The holiday season can be beautiful and is filled with a variety of social events from intimate gatherings to raging parties. In the western world, we tend to deck our streets with lights and decorations that make us feel all warm and Christmassy. We usually gather with friends and family to celebrate, enjoy good food, great company, and a drink or two…or more. The festive season really gets you into celebration mode, but celebration mode often leads to overindulging in both food and drink. What if there were healthier options to drink that would allow you to enjoy the holidays just as much? Well, this year why not celebrate in style and in health by trying a festive mocktail?

I’ve found two festive recipes to make at your next party that are sure to be a hit! First off, both drinks call for a twist on simple syrup which I quite enjoyed once I reduced the sugar content for each of these recipes. I think a little sugar goes a long way, and I hate oversweet cocktails, but of course, you should feel free to adjust based on your own diet and personal taste!

DRNK’s Mojito boasts just 5G of sugar for a total of 25 calories per serving, and our Mule is a stunning 1G of sugar and a total of 15 calories per serving – use DRNK to ensure a low-sugar mocktail and speed up your production time 😏.

Directions Directions
In a small pot using a wooden spoon or a mortar and pestle, crush the mint leaves.

Add sugar and water to the pot (if you used the mortar and pestle to crush the mint, add the crushed mint leaves to the pot as well) and bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring to dissolve the sugar.

Let boil for 3 more minutes, strain out the mint and set simple syrup aside.

COCKTAIL SHAKER
In a cocktail shaker, add 2 tbsp of the mint syrup (add more/less depending on your diet and taste), ½ cup lime juice and ¼ cup unsweetened cranberry juice and shake with ice.

Pour equal amounts into 4 tall glasses over ice and top with seltzer.

NO COCKTAIL SHAKER
Using 4 highball glasses, add ½ tbsp of the mint syrup (add more/less depending on your diet and taste), 1 tbsp lime juice and ¼ cup unsweetened cranberry juice and stir briskly.

Add ice, and then add seltzer to top up the glass.

GARNISH
Add fresh cranberries and a sprig of mint for garnish.
In a small pot add water and cinnamon and bring to a boil.

Simmer for 5-10 minutes, strain out the cinnamon sticks and bring the water back to a boil.

Add sugar to the pot stirring to dissolve the sugar. Once sugar is dissolved, remove from heat and set aside.

In a small bowl add blackberries and sugar, and using a wooden spoon, crush blackberries until broken down. If you don’t want the blackberry bits in your mocktail, make sure to use a cocktail shaker or a strainer as a cheap alternative!
